Nicolai Petrat: Musical Motivation
Once the initial excitement is over, every learner realizes that playing a musical instrument is not always fun but can sometimes be tedious. Helping pupils to stick with their instrument, strengthening their self-motivation over and over again, and guiding them through work blocks are among the essential tasks of instrumental instruction. Using an approach from behavioral psychology, the author outlines a circle of motivation based on five principles.
Using many examples from his own teaching experience, the author shows where the need for motivation arises. Motivating learners in individual and group instruction is discussed, as is the role of parents. Rounding off the book is a list of questions to check your own teaching skills.
