New Publications 2023

Dear colleagues,

This coming year will be “colourful” as we are celebrating 100  years of Bärenreiter. When Karl Vötterle issued the first song sheets in September 1923 carrying the name of Bärenreiter, times were very difficult. Noone would have guessed that a hundred years later, a company of meanwhile international standing in the music world would be celebrating this special birthday.

A publisher who started out in a living room in Augsburg has become today’s partner for all those who are involved with classical music, whether they are musicians, musicologists or listen to it as connoisseurs and music lovers. Music is performed from “Bärenreiter Urtext” editions all over the world. The catalogue ranges from Orlando di Lasso to contemporary composers.

This is also reflected in the new publications for the first half of our anniversary season 2023/24: For piano, works by Schubert, Chopin, Saint-Saëns, Suk and Ravel await you. For choirs, there are newly edited works by Schubert (Mass in E-flat major), Saint-Saëns (“Super flumina Babylonis” in a first edition) and Bach (the “St. Matthew Passion” arranged by Mendelssohn). For opera, editions from Purcell's “Dido and Aeneas” to Leoncavallo's “Pagliacci” will certainly appeal.

We would be delighted if you took up this anniversary in your media. You are most welcome to visit our headquarters in Kassel. The Bärenreiter management and I are at your disposal for interviews. We will be happy to provide you with material for your reports.

Yours
