First prize awarded to four French siblings

Bärenreiter prizes awarded at the Mozart Competition in Salzburg

Gold and bronze for France, silver for Germany. In the string quartet category of the 13th International Mozart Competition in Salzburg, Quatuor Tchalik (France) consisting of the four siblings Gabriel, Louise, Sarah and Marc Tchalik won the first prize. The Eliot Quartet (Germany) came second, followed by the Quatuor Akos (France) in third place. These three ensemble finalists  were presented with “Bärenreiter Urtext Prizes” in the form of a generous sheet music voucher. In addition to the competition first prize, Quatuor Tchalik received a special prize from the Mozarteum Salzburg Foundation for the best interpretation of a Mozart string quartet: the complete “New Mozart Edition” in paperback published by Bärenreiter.
