Urtext takes centre stage

Bärenreiter at the International Music Fair in Frankfurt

Drum roll: Bärenreiter reveals its new Urtext campaign. At the International Music Fair in Frankfurt from 5 to 8 April 2017, the publisher will be presenting its plans to establish the concept of “Urtext” firmly in the consciousness of musicians. Bärenreiter interprets the term Urtext as the attempt, through a meticulous examination of all surviving sources, to come as close as possible to the composer’s intentions.
Bärenreiter-Verlag is once again represented at the most important meeting place for the music industry where it will have a large and prominent stand (Hall 8 C 50). There you’ll be able to see the latest new publications for this half year as well as many other important titles from the publishing programme. And taking centre stage in 2017: Ludwig van Beethoven. Bärenreiter is already gearing up for the Beethoven Anniversary Year 2020 with lots of new publications. One of the jewels of the catalogue is the prestigious facsimile of Beethoven’s Missa solemnis. As well as this, Czech and French music from the 19th century is strongly represented: new Urtext editions of works by Antonín Dvořák, Gabriel Fauré and Camille Saint-Saëns will be hot off the press at Frankfurt.
