Bärenreiter special prize presented at the German Conductors’ Competition
The Armenian conductor Vladimir Yaskorski is the winner of the Bärenreiter Urtext prize which was presented at the first “Deutscher Dirigentenpreis” (German Conductors’ Competition) in Cologne (Germany). This special prize was donated by Bärenreiter for the best interpretation of a work of the 20th/21st century.
The winner of this prestigious conducting competition at the Kölner Philharmonie was Iranian 28-year old Hossein Pishkar. The second place went to Dominik Beykirch from Germany and the third place to Anna Rakitina from Russia.
This international one-week competition was held for the first time and was organised by the German Music Council in cooperation with the Kölner Philharmonie, Oper Köln, the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne, and the WDR Sinfonieorchester. More than 80 conductors from 25 countries applied to participate.
