Bärenreiter prizes at Juventudes Musicales in Madrid
Spain’s young piano elite assembled in Madrid for a contest. 20 pianists had qualified for the Concurso Juventudes Musicales in the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música from 12 to 14 May. Six of them were elevated to the final by the distinguished panel of judges. It was Álvaro Mur Rodríguez who was ultimately the happy winner. He played Ludwig van Beethoven’s Sonata op. 111 in the final and convinced the judges with his interpretation. The second prize went to Rosalía Gómez Lasheras for his performance of Robert Schumann’s Sonata op. 11. Bärenreiter has been supporting the Spanish competition for young musicians for many years now. All six finalists received a valuable voucher for Bärenreiter publications from the hands of Johannes Mundry.
