Piano artistry beneath the banner of Beethoven

Bärenreiter Urtext Prizes awarded at the Bonn Beethoven Competition

Grand finale in Bonn: three finalists qualified for the closing concert of the International Telekom Beethoven Competition, held in Bonn on 10 December. It was a magnificent display of piano artistry. In the end the lucky winner was the Italian pianist Alberto Ferro (second from left in photo), who convinced both the audience and the jury, headed by Pavel Gililov, with his reading of Beethoven’s Fourth Piano Concerto. Accompanying him was the Bonn Beethoven Orchestra under the baton of its director Dirk Kaftan. The second prize went to Tomoki Kitamura of Japan (third from left), the third to Ho Jeong Lee of Korea (fourth from left). Johannes Mundry, representing the House of Bärenreiter, handed the three finalists their Bärenreiter Urtext Prizes: sheet music vouchers with a total value of € 2,000.
