Miroslav Srnka's "South Pole" nominated

The opera “South Pole” by Bärenreiter composer Miroslav Srnka has just been nominated for the International Opera Awards 2017 in the category “World Premiere”. This work which deals with the race to reach the South Pole between the Norwegian Roald Amundsen and the Englishman Robert Falcon Scott was performed for the first time to great acclaim at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich on 31 January 2016 (photo: Wilfried Hösl.
