A high standard in the name of Bach

Bärenreiter Prizes presented at the Bach Competition in Leipzig

Once again the International Johann Sebastian Bach Competition in Leipzig did credit to the great composer. From 11 to 21 July, 105 musicians from 34 countries competed at a high level for the much sought-after prizes. The proud first prize winners were Rachel Naomi Kudo (USA, Piano), Avinoam Shalev (Israel, Harpsichord) and Maria Wloszczowska (Poland, Violin/Baroque Violin).

Bärenreiter donated three Bärenreiter Urtext Prizes in the form of vouchers for sheet music.. At the awards ceremony in the old Leipzig City Hall, Dr. Wendelin Göbel (Publishing Director, Bärenreiter) presented these Urtext prizes to (from left to right) Elly Suh (USA/South Korea, Violin), Till Johannes Hoffmann (Germany, Piano) and Avinoam Shalev (Harpsichord). – (Photo: Gert Mothes)
