Brilliant performances in the singing category

Adjudication at the Mozart Competition in Salzburg

The 13th International Mozart Competition of the Mozarteum University Salzburg came to a close with a festive final concert in the singing category. The first prize was awarded to Russian soprano Anna El-Khashem.  The winner of the 2nd prize was Slovakian bass-baritone Peter Kellner and the 3rd prize went to Slovenian soprano Mojca Bitenc.

Each of the three finalists received a “Bärenreiter Urtext Prize” in the form of a EUR 300 sheet music voucher which was handed over by Ulrike Schermuly (Director of Communications at Bärenreiter). In addition to the competition first prize, Anna El-Khashem received a special prize from the Mozarteum Salzburg Foundation and Bärenreiter for the best interpretation of a Mozart vocal work: the complete “New Mozart Edition” in paperback.
