Chopin's ingenious melodic style

Hardy Rittner delighted about the recently published edition of Frédéric Chopin's Barcarolle op. 60

“I am delighted about the recently published Bärenreiter edition of Frédéric Chopin's Barcarolle op. 60. This is the second edition, after the Préludes, in which I have been involved.

The work process on the Barcarolle was divided into several stages. Peu à peu new and exciting details came to light which had to be included and now enrich the edition.

I believe that the Barcarolle once again bears witness to Chopin's ingenious melodic style, a melodic style which is sometimes only implied by the musical notation and often remains ambiguous – i.e. some notes can be interpreted as being part of a melodic line and can be played as such or not. The resulting possibilities and variations are manifold and offer an almost inexhaustible pool of ever new searching and finding. May you encounter wonderful musical discoveries when you use this edition!“
