Matthias Pintscher at the Staatskapelle Dresden

Matthias Pintscher has been appointed composer-in-residence (Capell-Compositeur) with the Dresden Staatskapelle for the 2021/2022 season. The composer and conductor, who was born in Marl (Ruhr Region, Germany), already received international recognition in 1998 with the world premiere of his opera "Thomas Chatterton" at the Semperoper Dresden. Since then he has gained international renown as both a composer and conductor. After more than 20 years Pintscher is now returning to Dresden as composer-in-residence. A special concert will take place in February 2022 where he will conduct his own work "Neharot". This orchestral work, which was written in the spring of 2020, will receive its German premiere here. Moreover Pintscher's concerto "Chute d'Étoiles" for two trumpets and orchestra, inspired by the exhibition "Sternenfall" of the German painter and sculptor Anselm Kiefer, will be performed on 20, 21 and 22 March 2022 as the 7th concert within the symphony concert series under the baton of Vladimir Jurowski. – (Photo: Franck Ferville)
