Bärenreiter Urtext prizes at the International Bach Competition
The XXIV International Johann Sebastian Bach Competition which took place in Leipzig in July was of an extremely high standard. The first prizes went to Julian Emanuel Becker from Germany in the category organ, Lara Morger (alto) from Switzerland in the category voice and Victor Garcia from Spain in the category violoncello/baroque violoncello. In each of these categories, Bärenreiter Urtext prizes comprising generous sheet music vouchers were also awarded. The winners are Gregor Früh from Germany (organ), Benjamin Sattlecker from Austria (voice) and Guillem Gràcia Soler from Spain (violoncello, photo [Gert Mothes] together with Peter Wollny from Bach-Archiv Leipzig).
