Born in Landau (Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany) on 31 August

Studied composition (with Frank-Michael Beyer, Friedrich Goldmann and Aribert Reimann),  piano, musicology and German language and  literature in Hanover and Berlin

Scholarship awarded by the Studienstiftung  des deutschen Volkes (German National  Academic Foundation)

1989

Award from the Minister of Culture of Lower  Saxony for outstanding achievements at the  Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hanover

1990

Musica Viva scholarship from the city of  Pforzheim; attended master class with Isang Yun

1992

Young talent scholarship from the Ministry of  Science and Culture, Lower Saxony

1993

Artist’s scholarship for three months at the  Deutsches Studienzentrum in Venice (Palazzo Barbarigo della Terrazza)

First prize in the Göttingen Symphony Orchestra  Composition Competition for Hors d’automne
