Matthias Pintscher in Lucerne
Matthias Pintscher features at the 2014 Lucerne Festival as both composer and conductor. On 17 August the Ensemble intercontemporain conducted by Pintscher gives the Swiss premiere of bereshit for large ensemble. On 1 September Pintscher and students from the Lucerne Festival Academy give insights into his chamber music works, and he also conducts further concerts. The Lucerne Festival Academy Orchestra, conducted by Pintscher, performs his songs from Solomon’s garden for baritone and orchestra. The concert with Leigh Melrose (baritone) will be repeated on 8 September in Cologne and 9 September in Gelsenkirchen. On 6 September Pintscher conducts Mahler’s 4th Symphony in Lucerne with Barbara Hannigan as soloist. The programme also includes Johannes Maria Staud’s Zimt. Ein Diptychon für Bruno Schulz.
