Vocal Scores of Stage Works
Many of our complete edition volumes and conducting scores of stage works including famous operas by Monteverdi, Handel, Gluck, Mozart, Schubert, Berlioz, Chabrier, Dvořák and Janáček are complemented by vocal scores which contain all vocal parts (for soloists and chorus singers) as well as a piano reduction of the orchestral score. They are arranged by experienced conductors and répétiteurs and are used by singers to rehearse their parts. Initially the opera houses receive our vocal scores on hire for selected productions but when the editions have proven their worth in practice, they are also made available for sale.
In addition to the original libretto, our vocal scores mostly include a German or English singable translation. This enables performances in those additional languages or simply a better understanding of the libretto text. Appendices which are included in the score and which contain alternative versions are also offered in our vocal scores as well as in the orchestral parts. A well-presented reliable musical text is complemented by a comprehensive foreword penned by a respected musicologist on the genesis, the reception history and the plot of the work in question. The vocal scores also offer a layout which satisfies the highest aesthetic demands in terms of spacing and transparency as well as a high-quality paper, print and binding.
With all of these factors our editions meet the exacting demands of scholars, singers, pianists and music lovers.
