Opera in the 20th / 21st century

The opera repertoire of the 20th and 21st centuries is undergoing a constant and exciting evolution – lively and diverse in its subject matter and music alike. From literatur opera to experimental projects, Bärenreiter have always placed special emphasis on the cultivation of music theatre. Variety is the order of the day: sensational works such as Beat Furrer's “FAMA” and “Wüstenbuch” and Matthias Pintscher's “L'espace dernier” have recently been joined by such acclaimed productions as Manfred Trojahn's “Orest”, Philipp Maintz's “Maldoror”, Miroslav Srnka's “South Pole” and Andrea Lorenzo Scartazzini's “Edward II”.
