Opera in the 18th century

Stage works of the 18th century form a key part of our catalogue. They include operas by the baroque masters George Frideric Handel and Georg Philipp Telemann whose works are published by Bärenreiter in the complete Halle Handel Edition and an edition of selected works (Telemann Musical Works). For more information on Telemann please see our Telemann Year 2017 Focus. It also goes without saying that the great classical opera composers Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Christoph Willibald Gluck feature strongly in our publication programme. Both composers’ works are published in Complete Editions. In addition we offer performance material and vocal scores for several operas by Joseph Haydn, such as “Orlando Paladino” and “Il mondo della luna” . Our catalogue also offers rarities such as Antonio Salieri's 'divertimento teatrale' “Prima la musica e poi le parole”, premiered in the Orangerie of Vienna's Schönbrunn Palace together with Mozart's “Der Schauspieldirektor” in 1786.
