MGG Online

MGG Online is the digital encyclopedia for music researchers worldwide.

MGG Online has been developed by Bärenreiter and J.B. Metzler in partnership with Répertoire International de  Littérature Musicale (RILM). The database contains the complete content of the second edition of the MGG, the authoritative reference work for musicology since 1949, as well as continuously updated and newly written articles and entirely new keywords.

RILM has developed a platform, which searches every corner of MGG Online to identify material relevant to the researcher’s objective. Like the content, the platform will be enhanced on an ongoing basis.

Its Editor-in-Chief, the renowned musicologist Laurenz Lütteken (Zurich), is collaborating with an editorial board of internationally respected musicologists, the MGG editorial department, and authors around the world to update and add new content on a continual basis.

MGG Online is an integral part of international musicology in the digital age.
