Matthias Pintscher – Music Director of the Ensemble intercontemporain

Matthias Pintscher has been appointed Music Director of the Ensemble intercontemporain. German-born conductor and composer Pintscher will take over this position at the start of the 2013-14 season. He will succeed Susanna Mälkki who held this post since 2006.

On 25 August 2012 the Cleveland Orchestra will premiere his new work Chute d’Étoiles at the Lucerne Festival, followed by November premieres in Cleveland and New York City’s Carnegie Hall. This work has been commissioned by the Roche Foundation. Pintscher is currently Artist-in-Association at the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra.
