"Harmony for Japan". A choral collection to help the victims of the catastrophe
At this year’s Frankfurt Music Fair 2012, the music publishers Bärenreiter, Breitkopf & Härtel, Carus, Sulasol and Oxford University Press are launching "Harmony for Japan”, a choral collection in aid of the victims of the earthquake tragedy of March 2011. In response to the catastrophe, the idea developed between Pana Musica, the partner for Japanese choral music, and several European music publishers, of publishing a collection of new compositions for choir to mark the anniversary of the catastrophe. The aim is to provide Japanese choirs in the areas particularly affected with a range of free contemporary choral music. The choral collection incudes works by Torben Maiwald, John Rutter, Peter Schindler, Heinz Werner Zimmermann and others. All the music publishers and composers participating in the project are foregoing any income from this collection.
