Stage and Orchestral Music
Alkor-Edition, a subsidiary of Bärenreiter, is responsible for the marketing of hire material to orchestras and opera houses. The company’s publications are promoted by directly contacting conductors, opera/theatre managers and promoters as well as broadcasting organisations, CD and DVD producers etc. In this way performances are arranged or the publications are used for other purposes. As well as processing orders, despatching performance materials and checking editions when they are returned, the negotiation of terms on the fees for performances, recordings and broadcasts forms a major part of the department’s work, distinguishing between pure hire fees for the music materials and the licence fee resulting from the copyright (royalties, transmission fees etc.). This requires close liaison with the legal, editorial and production departments.
