This department is responsible for the overall external image of the publishing house and its products. At the same time as editions are being produced, targeted marketing and advertising takes place. Promotional materials such as catalogues and flyers as well as other advertising materials are designed and produced as required. Advertisements are  placed in relevant periodicals and other media. The internet plays an increasingly important role in presentation and marketing. Other important functions include organising trade fairs and exhibitions. At the same time the advertising department takes an ever growing responsibility for the information presented on the Bärenreiter website.

The public relations department maintains contact with newspapers, periodicals as well as radio and television stations in Germany and abroad. It also issues press releases on new books and music, on first performances and other performances in the contemporary music field and on other events where the publishing house is involved. By providing review copies, the press office encourages the publication of reviews in the relevant media.
