Sassmannshaus

In 1974 Egon Sassmannhaus (1928–2010) began publishing his teaching materials with Bärenreiter and Gustav Bosse Verlag, Regensburg. The four-volume teaching method Früher Anfang auf der Geige („Early Start on the Violin”) for young musicians from the age of four quickly became established as a standard work, giving hundreds of thousands of children their first introduction to playing the violin. The “Sassmannhaus” method for viola, cello (each in four volumes) and double bass (three volumes) followed. A repertoire book and Christmas repertoire book complete the series.

A revised new edition, with updated layout, was published from 2008 onwards.  An English edition of all the methods, edited by Egon Sassmannshaus’s son Kurt, opened the American and English markets for the publications.
