New Berlioz Edition (NBE)

The “New Berlioz Edition” (Hector Berlioz: Neue Ausgabe sämtlicher Werke / Neue Berlioz-Ausgabe) is a historical-critical edition of the musical and literary works of the French composer Hector Berlioz (1803–1869). It was edited by the Berlioz Centenary Committee London in cooperation with the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Lisbon and published by Bärenreiter-Verlag. 26 volumes were issued between 1967 and 2006.
The “New Berlioz Edtion” meets the complexities of the source material of many of the composer’s works by taking into consideration the latest research findings and discoveries. Each volume contains a foreword, critical commentary and facsimiles. The appendix contains rejected versions, drafts and other material.
