Bärenreiter Basel is founded due to the threatened closure of the publishing company in Kassel. Considerable support is given by the Basel conductor Paul Sacher.
War damage in March 1945
On 9 March the company’s buildings in Kassel are destroyed during the last air raid on the city. On 2 April the Americans enter Kassel. Directly after the German capitulation, work begins on rebuilding the publishing house.
