Landgraf-Moritz-Stiftung

This foundation was set up in 1955 by Karl Vötterle, Friedrich Blume and Richard Baum. The articles of incorporation were signed by Philipp, Landgrave of Hesse (1896–1980). The foundation is named after the art-loving Maurice, Landgrave of Hesse (1572–1632). The articles of association contain the following text:

“The foundation takes its inspiration from Landgrave Maurice the Learned. It is named the Landgraf-Moritz-Stiftung in memory of the Landgrave’s patronage, particularly of Heinrich Schütz, and aims to promote art and culture, particularly music.”

Its purpose is to promote music, particularly the study of Heinrich Schütz and his contemporaries. It also supports other musical activities.
