López steht für sich – und muss dennoch nicht mit der marktgängigen Formel von Außenseitertum fuchteln. Seine Werke haben alle Schwere von wirklichem Werk und sind dennoch offene Gebilde, transparente unabgeschlossene Prozesse, die sich an allen möglichen Rändern festhalten, um ihre intime Monumentalität gleichzeitig zu schützen und zu manifestieren. Ränder, Randgebiete sind zentral bei López. Er hat es mit den Massiven, den Tiefen, den Lüften und Klüften. Er taucht hinab und steigt auf, hämmert und klammert und das alles in weiß Gott gewaltigen Dimensionen. Die Klänge klingen ihm längst nicht genug: Bild und Bewegung und Szene brechen herein. Alles dehnt sich und ein wunderbar großer – aber auch angehaltener – Atem riskiert Spannung bis zum Bruch. Ein Künstler des Konflikts, der es wagt, dem Grandiosen nicht auszuweichen.«

López is unique – this without any need to display the marketable label of ›outsider‹. His works have the weight of true Opus, but remain open structures, transparent unfinished processes that cling to all possible perimeters in order to protect and simultaneously manifest their intimate monumentality. Borders and peripheral areas are central in López’ work. The massifs, the abysses, the winds and the chasms are the territory he loves. He plunges down, climbs up, hammers and squeezes in, God knows, enormous dimensions. Sounds alone have long since ceased to be music enough for him: image, movement, and theatrical setting break their way in. Everything expands, and a marvellously deep – and sustained – breath risks tension to the breaking point. An artist steeped in conflict, who dares not to fear the sublime.«

«Si le mot originel – voire même original – a encore un sens, alors il est personnifié par Jorge E. López. López est son propre représentant – sans pour autant devoir avoir recours à la formule usuelle du non-conformisme. Ses œuvres possèdent toutes le poids du véritable travail et sont toutefois des constructions ouvertes, des processus transparents non clos, qui se retiennent de tout côté pour protéger et manifester tout à la fois leur intime monumentalité. Abords, zones périphériques tiennent une place centrale chez López. Ce qui l’intéresse, ce sont les massifs, les profondeurs, les airs et les abîmes. Il plonge et s’élève, martèle et enserre, et ce dans des dimensions, Dieu sait, gigantesques. Les sons ne sont pas assez sonores pour lui: il introduit des images, et du mouvement, et des scènes. Tout s’étire et une merveilleuse et grande respiration – bien que retenue – risque de se tendre jusqu’à la rupture. C’est un artiste du conflit qui ose ne pas échapper au grandiose.»
